As a GRK (research training group), our primary aim is to fund and support a wide variety of doctoral students, while also forming a close yet vast group of researchers from all stages of their career. This fruitful basis has already lead to 12 successful PhD defenses in the first years of the GRK, with students not only from Germany, but also from China, Denmark, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey and Vietnam. We currently have 10 male and 7 female doctoral students, all of which are well on track to achieve their PhD. Please have a look here for some current and future PhD projects.

We offer and provide:

•   An intense yet exciting three year road to a PhD in mathematics.

•   The possibility to conduct individual research under the guidance of your PhD supervisors.

•   Eleven principal investigators (PIs) plus their entire research groups to learn from and interact with.

•   Two PIs as first and second advisors assigned to you, as well as a post-doc tutor, to provide help and guidance.

•   Ample funding to visit conferences, invite guests or organize workshops.

•   One summer school per year, organized by one or several of the PIs.

•   Several specialized research seminars with invited speakers from Germany, Europe and abroad.

•   Each week an afternoon dedicated to the GRK, where all member meet to discuss and socialize.

•   Workshops on various topics, organized by our students.

•   Social gatherings, both with and without the advisors.

•   Topics are chosen and decisions made following the wishes of our PhD students.

•   Equal opportunity measures, including special workshops, talks, mentoring and individual coaching.

•   No teaching duties.

•   A monthly salary according to 75% TV-L 13 (about 3150 € before and 2100 € after taxes, depending on circumstances and increasing after the first year).
