The summer school sheds light on the interplay of arithmetic and analytic groups. Arithmetic and S-arithmetic groups are subgroups of algebraic groups that define lattices in products of real and p-adic analytic Lie groups. The cohomology and cohomologically defined invariants of lattices and their ambient groups, such as Kazhdan's property (T) and higher degree variants, are intricately related. Understanding this relationship is relevant from the geometric, algebraic, and ergodic viewpoint. The meeting will comprise three minicourses which give an introduction to this exciting field aimed at PhD students. Some recent developments will be covered in additional research talks.

If you are a graduate student, please indicate in a few words your motivation to participate in the summer school and arrange for your supervisor to send a short email to the above address in support of your participation.

We have limited funding available to cover the accomodation expenses of early career participants. If you want to apply for such funding, please do so in your registration email and before July 1st.
